Simplify your curtn measuring process with our comprehensive Measurement Guide, designed to make the entire experience hassle-free and strghtforward.
Step 1: Measure for RodTrack Length and Placement
If you have already installed a rod or track, note its exact length. If not yet installed, determine where to place itwhether above the window frame or on each sideto achieve your desired aesthetic effect.
Height Above Window Frame: Typically, curtn rods are mounted 6-10 inches above the window frame for a taller illusion of the room's space; mark this height lightly with a pencil or masking tape.
Width Beyond Window Frame: Add extra width around 6-15 inches on each side for curtns to stack properly. Mark these points lightly.
Step 2: Determine Fabric Fullness Settings
To ensure your drapes don't look flat like a sheet, consider the additional fabric needed to create fullness:
Pleated Styles: The design includes built-in fullness; we use a ratio of 200-230 for pleats to achieve that voluminous look.
Pinch Pleat, Tlor Pleat Inverted Pleat: m for a ratio of 2x the rod width.
Triple Pleat Triple Tlor Pleat: Go with 2.3x fullness.
Step 3: Determine Drapery Width and Length
Consider the style and header type before calculating the size:
Pleated Style
Soft Top Style
Grommet Style
Example:
Header Style Window Frame Overall Width inches Rod Full Length to Fullness Ratio Number of Panels panel Single Panel Width to Order inches
Pleated Style 80 100 2-2.3x 2 50
Soft Top Style 80 100 1.5x 2 75
Grommet Style 80 100 2x 2 100
Perfect Placement
Different curtn lengths impact the visual appearance of your space:
Short Curtns: Add drama and make small spaces feel grander.
Long Curtns: Ideal for large windows or tall ceilings; they add elegance.
Keep in mind that custom draperies will be made based on the width and length you specify. Headers like Pinch Pleat, Pinch Pleat with Back Tab, Triple Pinch Pleat, Tlor Pleat, Triple Tlor Pleat, Flat Hooks come with adjustable pin hooksDrapery rings or clip rings are sold separately.
